La Ley Con Jose 1-7-2017

En el primer episodio de La Ley Con José para 2017, José Sánchez discute el problema social en México con respecto a la escasez de gasolina en la que el precio del gas debido al robo de gas y los altos precios. También hablo el tiroteo en Fort Lauderdale, Florida. En el que un hombre puertorriqueño trajo una pistola y abrió fuego en un aeropuerto. Debido a esto, veremos una seguridad más estricta en los aeropuertos. José discutió que es muy importante saber que si usted no es ciudadano o residente, es ilegal que usted posea un arma. Si le encuentran con uno, puede ser deportado. Esto también vale para los soñadores; No es legal para ellos poseer un arma tampoco. In the first episode of La Ley Con Jose for 2017, Jose Sanchez discusses the social problem in Mexico regarding the gasoline shortage in which the price of gas due to pipeline theft and high prices. He also brought up the shooting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In which a Puerto Rican man brought a gun and opened fire in an airport. We will be seeing stricter security in airports due to this. Jose discussed that it’s very important to know that if you are not a citizen or resident, it is illegal for you to own a gun. If caught, you can be deported. This goes for dreamers as well; it is not legal for them to own a gun either. Jose also recommends that dreamers renew their permit 180 days before its expiration date. That way when Trump gets elected into office, you are safe with your permit. Now if you’ve never had it and you are wanting to start the process, Jose advises to not get it just yet. Since it is unknown as to what Trump will do, it’s best to not start the process because the government will then have access to all of your information.

More importantly in this episode, Jose wanted to emphasize the importance of having a plan just in case anything happens when Trump is elected into the presidency. If you are the main provider of the family, have a plan. Jose’s office can even help you make a will or the paperwork for custody of children. Though we want nothing to happen, one should be prepared for anything. A listener brought this up with his question: “As an illegal in this country, if I am caught by immigration can I call you to help me? Will I be given time to handle all my things and sell my house to migrate back to my country?”

Jose: You need to have a plan, Included in that plan are various things. If Trump really wanted to deport everyone, he couldn’t do it alone or overnight. Congress would have to be part of the decision and it would be a long process. Also, if you’re illegal and have been here at least 10 years in the country and have kids, spouses, or parents who are residents or citizens, you have the right to fight your for your case and they can’t deport you during the process.  It would take years for immigration to get to your case but in the meantime you can get a work permit. It’s also very important that you do not sign anything that immigration hands you. If they hand you something to sign, tell them that you want to speak with your lawyer first because what they want you to sign is a voluntary deportation document. You might be illegal but you still have rights and you can get an attorney and have $5,000 saved up because that’s the cost of bail. That is why it’s important to have some money saved up to start the application process and to have a plan especially if you have children. They are documents that we have in my office to help with the custody of your children if something were to happen. Also, for your property, cars, houses but it’s not necessary. Once you pay the bail, you’re free to go. Also, if an immigration official goes to your house and demands to come in, you have the right to not open the door.
